How we think and what we do affects our mood and our
lives. How we think and what we do is the foundation of responsibility for
our choices and their consequences. Awareness of how our past influences our
reaction to events in the present motivates us to change our behavior.
Understanding how we think and taking charge of our choices helps us to
achieve the results we desire. Moving in the world as an adult frees us from
the dominance of our child and parent aspects. and the consequent imbalances
that are incurred.
In therapy, the skillful blend of different
perspectives and their inherent "techniques" helps individuals to
meet their needs. The blend ranges from Cognitive/Behavioral to Insight
Oriented. It may well involve assessing neurological dysregulation or light
sensitivity. Taking a look at the spectrum of known influences on behavioral
experience assists individuals to shift and begin to create their own lives
rather than living in reaction.
As a therapist, I take an active role in
teaching, coaching and guidance, along with listening and reflecting. My goal
is to assist you in your foundation building, healing or rebuilding so that
you can "fly". The therapy is specifically designed to find
solutions to problems and is brief--typically lasting eight to twelve
sessions.
Along with traditional methods, alternative
pathways to change can be explored. These may take you down unseen courses in
your life and often go beyond twelve sessions This is beyond seeing
problems--putting out fires, so to speak--and moves to higher personal growth
with deeper insights and more lasting results.
An individual may choose to continue their
personal journey after the Brief Therapy is concluded. Then I am a
companion-mentor/guide in their personal growth. Enhancement of one's
connection to oneself and others, and to the Spirit that is in all things are
aspects of this therapy.
Therapy sessions usually last fifty to ninety
minutes and range in frequency from several times a week to monthly. An
initial evaluation session plus one initiate this process. My diversity (see
BIOGRAPHY)
allows for appreciation of biological, psychological, and social aspects of
being. I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I specialize
in working with professionals.
My fees:
Individual--$100/session
Couples/Family--$150/session
Home or Office visits $200/session.
ABOUT COUNSELING
My job is to help you get more of what you want from life. I am your helper
and can be your guide to solving your own problems. You are in charge of your
life. Your changes and healing come from within. Each of us has a divine
spark that intends to live, grow, and be more. My job is to fan that spark by
helping you find your options and choices. and then learn to make them
happen. Sometimes this process is painful. Part of my job will be to remind
you of your pain when you were stuck and be with you as you learn to walk
through that feeling to a new place.
You get to decide:
what to work on;
how fast you go;
how often we meet;
if or when you need to stop.
I often suggest personal assignments (homework).
This may include reading books, keeping a journal or logging your progress.
We may conduct experiments to prove or disprove a belief. You can expect that
I will give you "reality checks" as we explore ways to get you
where you want to go in your life. In the process, you will begin to
experience changes in thinking, feeling and behaving. As a result, your
responsibility will assume higher levels of function and your wholeness will
become more known to you.
